SSC conducts the SSC CHSL Exam to hire candidates for the posts as follows:

SSC CHSL Pay Scale

After the 7th pay Commission, the SSC CHSL salary structure for the posts under SSC CHSL is given below. The below table represents the pay scale of four different posts.

SSC CHSL Salary (Important Components)

It is noted that the SSC CHSL Salary per month ranges from Rs. 18,777 to Rs. 31,045. Apart from the salary, CHSL employee is entitled to get other benefits. Go through the following important CHSL Salary Components to understand the Salary Structure-

Pay Scale-Pay scale decides the employee’s salary. Some of the factors affect the person’s salary structure like what duties and responsibilities a person has to handle, what is the rank of the person at the job. The employer sets the employee’s pay scale.

Basic Pay- The basic is the person’s initial salary plus grade pay. The basic pay depends on the person’s work profile. All other evaluations depend on this pay of the person

CPC Fitment Factor- The modifications that come after the 7th pay of commission is CPC Fitment Factor. All other evaluations play a role while deciding this pay of the person.

NPS- NPS means the national pension scheme. It helps to improvise the person’s saving habits. A small amount of a person’s monthly income is prevented from him and that same amount is given to the person in his old age on a monthly basis.

CGEGIS- CGEGIS stands for Central Govt. Employees Group Insurance Scheme. It was activated on 1st January 1982. The scheme offers the person a kind of a two-way benefit process. The first one is an insurance cover in order to help the employee’s family. Second is a lump sum amount to augment their resources on retirement.

CGHS- CGHS stands for Central Government Health Scheme. This scheme provides medical facilities to the employees.

SSC CHSL Salary: Perks & Allowances

The various allowances that are a part of the salary structure are as follows:

House Rent Allowance (HRA)

HRA is a reimbursement that is provided to the employee as stay ease. House rent allowance varies for each individual depending on the place of posting.

After the 7th pay commission, the allowances increment for House rent are as follows:

Dearness Allowance (DA)

The cost of living allowance is paid as DA and it will be 17% of the basic pay. The DA will be added to the in-hand salary of CHSL employees every month. The DA has been increased to 17% in October 2019 by the Union cabinet.

Transport Allowance (TA)

The transport allowance is provided to look after the daily travelling needs of CHSL employees. As per the salary in SSC CHSL, employees posted in the metro cities will get Rs.3600 as TA whereas the employees posted other cities will get Rs.1800 as TA.

Leave Travel Concession (LTC)

Employees can avail leave travel concessions if they want to travel to their hometown or any other parts of the country.

SSC CHSL Job Profile

Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)

  • Dealing with the clerical work and maintaining the flow of work in the office
  •  To Maintain data, files, and documents of the office in a systematic manner
  • Registration of Mails, Entering Data on Computer, Indexing in an efficient manner.

Promotion Policy: He/She is promoted Upper Division Clerk, Division Clerk, and Section Officer.

Data Entry Operator (DEO)

  • To handle office computers. He/She must be proficient in Computer Work.
  • Typing is one of the most responsibilities of the DEO post.
  • Work with software like MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Promotion Policy: The candidate could be promoted to the post of Data Entry Operator Grade B, Grade C, and Grade F (system analyst) after clearing departmental exams.

Postal Assistant (PA)/Sorting Assistant (SA)

  • Disposal of mails and maintaining the data
  • Customer support, handling customer queries and providing them a feasible solution, etc.

Promotion Policy: In this field of work, the candidate has to gain 5 years of experience and give Postmaster Grade I examination to promoted as Supervisor (LSG), Senior Supervisor, and Chief Supervisor (HSS).
